These books utilize evidence-based practices that are employed in speech therapy sessions and early education classrooms to create a resource that anyone can benefit from. The Sound Tales books are more than your average read-aloud! The reader helps the characters solve a puzzle by using their reading, writing, and phonological awareness skills. A follow-along writing activity is built into each book, along with search and find components for phonemic awareness. By using these methods, kids improve articulation and literacy skills at the same time!

The following evidence-based practices are applied:
Auditory Bombardment:
The child listens to a target sound over and over in a variety of contexts, but is not required to repeat the sound. Auditory Bombardment is a listening task that eliminates the pressure of verbal imitation.
Minimal Pairs and Phoneme Substitution:
A minimal pair is a set of two words that are the same except for one sound (not one letter, one sound). This is similar to rhyming, but the sound can be present anywhere in the word. When children use minimal pairs, they improve their ability to hear the difference between sounds, as well as understand the impact that different sounds can have on word meaning. Minimal pairs also help develop phonemic awareness skills through a practice called phoneme substitution. As children figure out the secret message, they are actually practicing minimal pairs and phoneme substitution.
Visual Feedback:
Visual feedback is when a child is able to physically see a result of their attempts at sound production.

BACKORDERED ITEMS:
If an item is not in stock when your order is received, you will be notified via email with the estimated ship date for your order. Generally, backorders are shipped within 1-2 weeks. If you order with a Purchase Order, your invoice will not be sent until the order is completely filled.
CANCELING AN ORDER:

In the event that your order has already been shipped, you are responsible for returning the items in accordance with our RETURN policy (a copy is provided with your order).

We offer the option of phoning, faxing or mailing in your information after you place your order for products. Simply use the Downloadable Order Form, which you can print and fax or mail to our office.
RETURN POLICY:
Order must be returned within 30 days after receiving the order.
If you received a wrong/defective/damaged/duplicate order, please email info@northernspeech.com. Include your Order Number, Product Name, and the problem with your order. Do not return the product until you have received an authorization from our Office.
If a product is returned in unused and in good condition, a full refund will be processed, minus shipping and handling charges.
